Every REALTOR® is a real estate agent. But not all agents are REALTORS®.

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.

All licensed agents are required to take continuing education courses approved by their state licensing boards. To retain membership in NAR, REALTORS® are required to take additional continuing education classes focused on real estate law, contracts, financing, and ethics.

Your REALTOR® can offer you these services to help you navigate the home buying process:

  • Determine how much you can afford and refer you to lenders.
  • Ability to find homes for sale that might not be on the market.
  • Provide community data to help you make an objective decision.
  • Negotiating experience to make sure you don't over pay.
  • Assistance finding qualified inspectors and gaining access to title documents.
  • Help understanding different financing options.
  • Guidance during closing.
