The township of Oak Run, in the state of Illinois, is a residential and recreational community constructed in the early 1970’s. The name of this township was originally Round Bottom. It surrounds the 600 acres of Spoon Lake, Central Illinois’s largest man-made body of water. When you call Oak Run home, you’re a part of the Property Owners Association. This beautiful spot offers things to do year-round for people of all ages and interests. Located approximately 15 miles east of Galesburg in Knox County, and 180 miles from the big city of Chicago, this tight-knit community watches out for each other and supports one another, making it a wonderful place to call home.

Oak Run’s Spoon Lake has 19 miles of picturesque shoreline and boasts a renowned fishing scene. You can cast a line in the hopes of catching largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, and bluegill. You can fish from the shores of any park in Oak Run, or out on the lake on your boat. The choice is yours.


Camper’s Village

Camper’s Village is Oak Run’s private campground. If you’re a property owner or a guest of a property owner, you can camp at this fun spot daily. Members may even lease semi-permanent or permanent sites. The campground features 68 sites that are leased along with many sites for daily trailer and tent camping. Amenities include a pavilion, bathrooms, nature trails, and a playground for your little ones.



Swimming is a great way to escape the heat during the summers in Oak Run. Property owners and their guests can go for a dip at the beloved Brentwood Pool or can choose to go swimming at the beaches located at either Lakeview or Windemere. Swimming is free for property owners and only $2 per visit for guests. You can request memberships at the Property Owners Association office.  


Oak Run Golf Course

Open since 1976, The Oak Run Golf Course is an 18-hole establishment, with well-defined fairways, challenging bunkers, several water hazards, and native grass areas. There is a certified PGA pro on-site who is available for lessons to help improve your game, and the course is designed to accommodate any level. If you’re looking for merchandise, the Pro Shop has you covered.


Boating on Spoon Lake

The best way to take in the beautiful views Oak Run offers is by boat. Take a spin out on the 600 acres that make up Spoon Lake. Have a relaxing afternoon on a pontoon boat, water-ski while being pulled by a speedboat, or take a kayak out for a relaxing ride. Regardless of how you decide to spend your time out on the water, you won’t regret it. You can even fuel your boat at the NBL Marina, located on the lake.


The Watering Hole

Locals love The Watering Hole, it’s everyone’s favorite place to grab a bite to eat in Oak Run. The menu includes artisan flatbreads, flaky salmon grilled to perfection, homemade chili, a strawberry salad with turkey and feta cheese, blackened tilapia fish tacos, and a filet mignon that is hand cut, tender, juicy, and wrapped in bacon. Regardless of the night, there will be good food and great company found at The Watering Hole.
