About Donna
About Buying or Selling Real Estate in the Quad City Area - I am a full time realtor; real estate is not a hobby to me. Most realtors do not work full time. For most people, their home is their biggest single investment -- do you want to trust that to just anybody? I specialize in helping busy people buy and sell homes. I bring a level of professionalism to my work that enables my clients to focus on their own work. Having your home on the market should not mean time lost at the office, and finding a home should be done at YOUR convenience, not your realtor's.
AS A LISTING AGENT - My job is to put your house in its best light, to price it so that you net the most in the least amount of time, to market it effectively, and to reduce the hassles inherent in showing. I'm not just your representative but also your advocate in contract negotiations, arrangements for repairs, and closing details. Your home will get "24/7" exposure on this website, plus Realtor.com, Zillow, Trulia and many others, which is important as most homebuyers begin looking online. I market my listings, not myself. My focus is on promoting, advertising, and selling your home.
AS A BUYERS AGENT - My job is not just to find you a house, but also to prioritize your needs (house, price, location, commuting distance, etc.) and educate you as to as to current market conditions and the entire buying process. Most of my business comes from referrals from past clients. If you are new in town or simply new to me, I can readily provide you with the names of several listing or buyer references whom you may call.
Note to buyers: unless you have been personally referred to me, I prefer to enter into a written agreement before showing properties any properties. This agreement is like signing a listing contract when listing your home, except that you are "listing" yourself to be represented exclusively by your buyer agent in your home search, which will include homes for sale by owner and new construction. A signed agreement lets me know that you are serious about buying a home, and as a serious buyers agent and real estate professional, I spend a considerable amount of time behind the scenes shopping and previewing listings for you. I am willing to spend as much time as it takes to find you the home of your dreams, but I can only work with a handful of buyers at a time, so I like to know that my clients take the home search as seriously as I do.
I have been with the Mel Foster Co. for over six years and I chose this company because it is the largest and foremost real estate firm in the Quad City area with consistent top consumer name recognition, consistent Number One market share, including high-end homes, and new construction. While much of my business centers on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities, I am not limited by being licensed in only one state. I list and sell all over the area, working both sides of the river. My clients get my full attention -- they don't have to deal with my "partner" or get bounced around to faceless assistants. I've been selling residential real estate for over six years, always full time (most agents are strictly part time).
Prior to real estate, I spent eleven years in the field of private club management, managing Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, The Clinton Country Club in Clinton, IA, The Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley, IA, and Ivy Hills Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a club manager, I was one of less than 100 women in the world certified in club management. I served in my local chapters, and participated on committees at the national level because I feel that in whatever career one selects, it is important to learn as much about that career as possible, and by giving back, you enhance not only your own set of skills, but help those around you. I returned to the Quad Cities because that is where I choose to live. This career change allows me to interact more directly with my clients on a one-on-one basis.
I am extremely detail oriented and take my work very seriously. I have been a top producer since my first year. I was rookie of the year, and have achieved sales levels of Chairman's Club, and in 2011 I was voted Iowa Realtor of the Year by the QCARA. I RETURN ALL MY PHONE CALLS WITHIN THE SAME BUSINESS DAY, IF NOT IMMEDIATELY. (If I can't, my daily voice mail message will explain why.) The initials behind my name are: SFR: Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource, Accredited Buyers' Representative (ABR), Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE). I served on the Quad City Board of Realtors for four years.
Beyond real estate, I have a full life. My husband Matthew and I live in Davenport. I enjoy golf and wish I played it better and more often. We love to travel and wish we did it more often. We have two rescue dogs, which are our children, Murphy Brown, a German Wire Haired Pointer who came from the Humane Society, and Riley, who came to us through Standard Schnauzer Rescue from a puppy mill in MO. Murphy is a registered therapy dog that makes regular visits to Trinity West Hospital, and has his favorite assisted nursing and assisted living facilities. It always surprises my husband that people recognize Murphy before they do us when we are out walking or at the farmerâs market.
I grew up in the Illinois side of the Quad Cities and am a graduate of Augustana College where I earned a B.A. in Psychology, and later completed my B.A. in Business at the University of Hawaii when I lived there in my younger years. We are Quad City 'Lifers' and love it!
